You’ve probably heard a lot about Squarespace but aren’t too sure about what Squarespace actually does.  In short, Squarespace is a flexible, easy to use, hosted content management system (CMS), making it a great platform for any service-based business.

There are currently many different DIY website building platforms available on the market, for example, Wix and Webflow. All of these platforms have great tools on hand to help businesses create their own professional looking websites that showcase their work and services to potential customers. Including Squarespace, these DIY website building platforms can all meet various business’s needs, be it a new business or a company looking to expand and refresh their website.

That being said my website builder platform of choice is Squarespace and here are five reasons why:

Built-in marketing

Squarespace has free marketing functionality already built-in for you. For example, let’s look at another popular site builder- Wordpress. In order to have marketing capabilities in Wordpress you need to install additional plugins. These can often be costly or on a subscription-based basis, as well as needing some web skills to install and maintain. Squarespace has free built-in functionalities for forms, SEO, announcement bars and newsletters.  Making it an all in one platform.

Easy to use and edit

Websites need to be updated regularly, whether that be pricing or adding new services and images. Squarespace is a visual platform, you simply click, drag and update individual elements. There is no need to have in-depth web design knowledge and changes are instantly live online on your site. No need to pay someone else and wait for updates, you have full control over your site.

Mobile ready

Squarespace comes with built-in mobile functionality. Meaning all Squarespace sites have a mobile-ready site by default, at no extra cost.

Hosted

Squarespace is ‘cloud hosted’. This means there is no need to install any software to run and manage your site. Your Squarespace subscription covers both your hosting and your content management. Meaning you get the reassurance that the Squarespace team are running all maintenance and updates in the background without you needing to do anything.

Powerful customisation

Squarespace provides minimalist templates with built-in styling options that can cover a lot of businesses needs. However, it also has a powerful ability for custom code to be added, allowing mould-breaking beautiful websites to also be created.
